Passion & Dedication – The Missing Ingredients

There is so much courage that goes into becoming an entrepreneur. So much can go wrong as there are no guarantees or promises, and certainly there is no luck; simply only hard work.  So what happens in someone’s mind that allows them to start this very lonely journey and give up stability for the lack of security?

When someone has a perception and a theory, they feel empowered with the fact that it could perhaps be their big break and their awakening to actually bring this idea to life.  This energy ends up turning them into a machine, one that knows no boundaries, limits, or restraints and wants to continue pursuing nothing else but their idea to come to reality.  These concepts are what we call passion and dedication and it is the missing ingredient for quite a number of entrepreneurs when they begin their journey after coming up with their own idea.

Passion is the driver that keeps entrepreneurs pushing forward with perseverance every day.  It is their belief in their project that allows them to see it through to the end.  Without passion, it becomes almost impossible to overcome the odds of victory when failure is almost guaranteed for everyone.  Passion evokes belief, which to this day is one of the strongest emotions someone can experience.  When you believe that something must happen or believe in something, you end up becoming ambitious to reach new heights.

Dedication is the engine to your ideas that will help keep you shifting gears from objectives and creativity to get you to your destination, which in this case are the results you are seeking.  You have to continue having a positive vibe throughout this challenging decision you have decided to pursue.  Like any road, you will come across bumps and U-turns, but it is ultimately up to you to choose which way to go.  Even the long way and patience will get you there.

Most entrepreneurs fail because they pursue only money and, therefore, at some point get burned out from chasing it and can no longer keep doing it without some type of reward.  This is lack of belief in their project and their interests in the rewards is what makes them fail 9 times out of 10.  Keep in mind that failure is defined by simply giving up and ultimately if something does not produce money, you have to seek something else that will, which is why you never end up generating the money you sought in the first place.

Again, passion and dedication is about believing in what you are doing enough to understand the value it brings as a result of being created and, therefore, can reenforce your little disappointments along the way as long as your vision exists.  If you are getting closer regardless of the monetary gain, you certainly do have to stop there, believe that you can ultimately bring your idea to life and positively impact the lives of those around you.  Money will come when the idea is completely in place and stable, as it is fundamentally the reward of everything you have put together; but remember passion and dedication must be present for you to get there until the very end.

Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life. – Steve Jobs
