I had a dream(Literally)....magazine
Ok so last night i had a dream after talking to a friend who was speaking of wanting to be a model for Straight Stuntin Magazine. I don't know if any of you guys heard of the mag but its a pretty hot mag with some very beautiful bodyfull women in it. Anyway long story short went to check out the website and the models are great. Went to see the magazines all either sold out or yet to be able to be ordered. I also checked out my monthly tattoo magazine Urban Ink, Show Magazine , Inked magazine and some of the same applied. Apparently people love half naked women lol who doesn't. That when my idea hit me in my dream what if i gave people and online newsstand. Kinda like an e.book would be but i give you magazines. All the back issues you ever wanted instant in the form of an e.magazine online or for small fee you download it to your drive. If you want to read online you pay monthly subscription fee. But not just issues for model magazines but everything from car mags to cooking and home decor mags. Before i go dumping into this idea i want you guys honest opinion would this be something you would spend money on? How would i go about contacting the magazine companies about their magazines.

The problem here is many existing magazines offer that and the legality and distribution would be very costly upfront. Its a good idea but very very difficult to execute...

hmmmm. see i didn't know that. I mean i knew some did. So when you say very costly upfront could you give me an idea maybe? Do you think they would go for a split profit say for example if for every subscription or download we split the profit down the middle between the and each magazine company. If subscription is $8 a month we split it i get $4 they get $4. Every download will be the price of the actual physical mag. So estimate around $6 we split that 50/50 also. hmmm But when i look at it from an editor standpoint or owner of this magazine. I seem like the middle man. If i was in the owners shoes i would cut me out of the equation completely taking the middle man out and my customers come directly to me instead of through a subscribed website. But if i was a customer i would not mind paying a subscription fee every month for unlimited reading of the monthly current issues and all the back ones of any mag i want.

You need to do some research on magazines and how they make money. The concept behind magazine consumers vs readers is very interesting and quite different from what makes logical sense.
Your idea is great, but like I said the logistics are not just complicated but offer very little value to a publisher.

So what your saying initially is that i need to find something to make this publisher say" well why should i invest in you and whats in it for me?"

I think ultimately the search should be for delivering value to the biggest leverage point, be it a product or a publisher.

What I meant by that is, you should always look at the things that have the biggest return on investment. In case of magazine arbitrage, the more value the publisher gets, the easier it is for you to get their attention and ultimately make the venture work.
